Life isnt defined by breathing, but the unpreventable moment in which you decide to garrot your enemy with a network cable …..

I have recently been studying MMPORG thingys such as World of Warcraft (World of Warcrack) and There, and more recently, Second Life (www.secondlife.com)
Your tiny little mind cannot comprehend the complexity and the level of detail in this virtual world. It has its own diverse communitys, sprawling user created landscapes, businesses that transcend from the SL world to the real world and vice versa, along with the pleothora that is human intelligence emulation/simulation.
Its unbeleivable that as I sit here and post this, Im listening to a radio station that exsists within the Second Life enviroment. I can purchase ( for real fucking dolla’ ) a house, a car, a mobile phone, even the clothes on your back.
My concern is the effect this has on real world economy. If I can start and run a successful virtual business, in a virtual world, and make a virtual income which I can exchange into real world cash, then why would I do anything else? What if 8 million other UK people agree with me!?
 What about tax? law? aarrrGGGHHHHH

I ask you all to have a think about the way the Internet has revolutionised your life. You go online to download music, watch movie trailers. Instead of traditional TV, you spend time on YouTube, play immersive MMORPG’s, and share files with your peers. Social networking has encouraged us to be more open and upfront about ourselves and our closest friends. The downside to this is that all this information is now readily available online. You wouldnt tell a complete stranger about your phobia of unwashed socks or your penchant for death metal, so why would you want to let the world know? You do becuase it impowers you. You feel that in a world of millions of heads, you need to get yours noticed. Even if its by strangers!
Ever ‘googled’ someone before going out with them, or perhaps searched for instances of there name? Welcome to the Internet people, and like it or not, its here to stay! 56,000 videos are uploaded to YouTube every day, along with over 1000 blogs appearing daily online. We are by default, creating a deeply linked, thorough and detailed personal profile of everyone on the planet. If your a band, why go to a record label now, you can promote yourselfs through the Internet? If your a filmaker, why wish for a multi million dollar budget and special effects houses to get you noticed? All you need is a couple of cheap DV cams and a copy of Adobe Premiere and you could be the next Speilberg! A singer ? You dont need a studio, just a PC with some free apps and you can be publishing your work in minutes.
Just think before clicking on that big grey ‘upload’ button. It may have consequences you havent even begun to think about.
